Problem with Access 2000 accessing file created with Access 97

I have an Access 97 database file on a network drive. Everybody using Access
97 can open it. Users with Access 2000 can't. The error message says it's
in use by another user. I've tried changing what I thought were obvious
things, sharing, user access, etc. but no joy. any suggestions?

You need to split the original 97 database -- you can use the database
splitter wizard to do that. Then you should create a converted version of it
in A2000. Then give each user a copy of the appropriate frontend.
