Problem while editing Group Policies with gpedit.exe

Hello,
I used gpedit.msc to edit some group policies, and disallowed running
the mmc.exe. but before I restoring this situation to its default
state, suddenly I closed the gpedit.msc and now I can't open it again
to change this value. How can I repair this?
Thanks

log in with the built-in admin-account.

or you can try to do a "system-restor"
or start from the XP-cd and do a repair-installation.

I had a problem similar. I set up the administrator account and after saving
it I completely forgot my password, now I can't log in and of course I cant
make changes, I didn't even save it in a disk. What can I do to make all the
changes and get the system back to normal.

Open regedit while logged on as an administrator and then delete the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\MMC registry key or
appropriate sub key assuming you are comfortable editing the registry and
then use gpedit.msc to reverse the change. I believe the free utility
Dial-a-fix would also detect it and let you disable it so that can use
gpedit.msc to undo the change.

Thanks to all repliers, but none of this post was useful.
@ Demmpa:
I used built in administrator account while trying to edit Group Policies
and also I turned off the system restore.
@ Steve:
unfortunately I disable registry editing tools either. so I couldn't use
this way.

but I found a better way (and also simple) at this:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kb...ocalComputerPolicywithoutActiveDirectory.html

I used this way and cleared all the policies that I created.
Anyway thanks for your atention

If that happens again Dial-a-fix should be able to remove the registry entry
that blocks access to using regedit or there are .vbs scripts that can do
the same. Thanks for reporting back what worked for you to share with the
rest of us
