Problem w/ install of Defender and

Can't download defender on my other computer WINDowsXP, no links work off
microsoft site to get it, or to validate my system(used sys. tools & it says
I'm already validated). Tried typing in direct url and I get error cant' get
connection, I tried all solutions to change settings to fix, no go. I think
I've got a spyware that has corrupted my explorer, possibly via google.
Symptoms: browser redirects all searchs. Thank you for any help you can
provide.
