Problem using wireless mouse and keyboard simultaneously in games

Hi

I've got a weird problem that I've been experiencing ever since 'upgrading'
to a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse and Microsoft Wireless Keyboard.

Every computer game that I play such as Far Cry, Medal of Honour, Unreal
Tournament 2004 etc requires the user to use the mouse and keyboard at the
same time. However, say I am holding down a key on the keyboard to move my
character within a game, if I then move the mouse, the key that I am holding
down on the keyboard seems to stop responding & I have to re-press the key
again. If I press the key again, I can continue moving as normal until I
move the mouse again & then the key stops responding even though I am still
holding it down! This is seriously affecting gameplay & I am getting fragged
by everyone!

My keyboard & mouse are fine for general use in Windows XP & this is the
only problem I'm getting. However, this problem is very frustrating as the
hardware was quite expensive & there is no mention of this issue in any of
the documentation or on the Microsoft Website. I feel a bit short-changed in
that the hardware can't seem to deal with multiple devices at the same time
and this is quite fundamental in any hardware combination!

Anyone know if there is a driver update or if this is a known issue?

Help! I'm getting absolutely annihilated at deathmatch!

Can you change the "channels" the wireless keyboard and mouse work on, or
are they not RF?

First up, these are the product details for the Microsoft hardware that I am
using (Windows XP Home Edition is my OS):

Product ID: 73177-492-0225005-00332

Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (IntelliType Pro)

Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (IntelliPoint)

These products were purchased as a Microsoft shrink-wrapped box-set &
therefore you would think that they should be compatible with each other!

First thing I tried was to try and change the channels that the devices are
using as it sounds the obvious thing that might be wrong.

It says in the Microsoft Mouse User's Guide to change the wireless channel,
press the button on the bottom of the mouse.I've done this several times
with both the keyboard and the mouse but no result. However, it's impossible
to tell from the front-end which channels the mouse & keyboard are running
on as this information is not displayed anywhere!!! I trust that pressing
the button *is* doing something!!!!

I've also ran the Signal Quality Wizard with both the keyboard and the mouse
and the results were 'excellent'

It seeems on the surface, as you've pointed out, that it must be a channel
issue but how is it possible to troubleshoot if none of this information is
presented to the user!

Also, none of this information is on the Microsoft Website.

Thanks for your help
