Problem Updating

P

plun

Downloaded it. Tried it. And this is the peculiar part -
the software shows the 3 established connections while MSAS
updates, then (with the 3 connections stable) MSAS reports
the same old error - no connection.

Strange or what?

Jamie

Hi

Yes it is. Did you see my earlier message about renaming
gdc files.

Do this with TCPview open.

- Right click om MSAS icon in systray and choose shutdown

- Open Windows Explorer and go to Program files / MSAS

- Rename gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd to gcThreatAuditScanData.old

- Rename gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd to
gcThreatAuditThreatData.old

- Start MSAS and try menu file- check för updates.

Hello all,

I thought I would just add to this thread instead of
starting another one. I have the same "exact" message
and problem as you do, Jamie. I have tried all the
suggestions (including remaning the two files to .old)
and still my error comes up that I "can not connect to
the Internet". I am using a T-1 router and have allowed
complete in and out access via the firewall for my static
IP. I have turned the MS firewall off and no luck. I
have placed several of the MSAS files into the excpetion
list of the MS Firewall as well. Still no luck. It
would be real helpful to find the "fix" for this.

Whatever that patch is supposed to fix, it hasn't fixed
anything for me.

Have you tried applying the Visual Basic runtime service pack 6 which has
been noted as successful in clearing problems in
different
areas?

Here is an update.

After installing and uninstalling (three times & using
the latest known download from MS) with complete deletion
of the files and folders associated to MSAS it works. I
can now get the computer to get the updates. I added the
files mentioned in a Microsoft link on the beta errors,
completely deleted the app (as mentioned above, and now
it is fine.

Dennis

PS: Still have the out of memory and unable to register
dll errors in the log file, but from what I read in
regards to the that thread (under general) I have not
done anything yet. Will post to the thread I started in
general any replies as I go on with the testing.

Glad it is limping along--the errors.log file is somewhat overly talky, I
think-not everything in there is crucial works or crashes information.
