I needed to reformat and reinstall a complete system on a Dell computer that was being donated to a
charity.
The original disk provided by Dell was XP Pro SP1a.
Rather than install that disk and then SP2 I wanted to slipstream SP2 with the original.
When I attempted to use the instructions from
(www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp) which I have done successfully on
several XP HE SP1 disks I kept getting an error message about the original disk already updated.
I then tried "Autoslipstreamer" and every thing seemed to go just fine. However when I reinstalled
XP on the computer, a check showed I only had SP1. Not even SP1a. I had to then run the SP2 update
anyway.
Can anyone shed some wisdom on why the winsupersite processes would not let SP2 join a SP1a disk.
and why I only get a SP1 when I should have married SP2 with the SP1a disk.
