problem shuting down... help please

ever time i try to shut down my system it freezes and i have to hold th epower button so it turn off... it boots up fine again but then again to try to shutdown it freezes mouse doesn't even move... any help please.

Chances are good it's just one of your background apps refusing to
close. Use msconfig | startup to play/disable the startup items. Perhaps
you'll find the culprit.
