Problem setting up ICS/Xbox

J

Jon

Hello everyone, here is my problem. I am trying to enable
ICS so that my xbox can share my computer's connection.
this is my home network configuration:

Cable Modem>Wireless Router>Computer 1 (ethernet cable)
V
Computer 2(wireless connection)
V
Xbox (cross-over ethernet cable)

Computer 2 has an ethernet card, and I have the ethernet
cable from the xbox plugged into it. Also, Computer 2 has
a wireless adapter to share the connection on the network.

Here is my problem. When I go to Computer 1 to try and
enable ICS (by going to Local Area Connection properties
in Network Connections) and I go to the advanced tab, it
doesn't display "Internet Connection Sharing" as an
option, only the firewall section. Computer 2, however,
*does* show ICS as an option, however when I enable it on
computer 2 the entire internet connection malfunctions.

Can anyone please assist me with this problem? I'm
running Windows XP Home Edition. Please reply on this
board or send an email to (e-mail address removed). Thank
you!

Greetings Jon,

I'm sorry but I cannot give you any specific instructions for adding an XBox
to an exisiting network. I'm not a gamer. You may want to visit the
microsoft.public.xbox newsgroups. It isn't necessary to enable Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS) on any of the computers. The computers are
connected by a router sharing a cable connection.

Unless you got instructions to do so, uncheck the ICS on the second
computer. There is a XBox Wireless Adapter available if you are interested.
For more details, see the following link.

I hope this helps! =)
