problem sending emails

I already posted a message and nobody answered. I cannot believe that nobody
knows about this error. So I try again.

I have used OL XP for long with WinXP. I changed nothing that I am aware of
but recently I began to get an error message :
"Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: RE: ...
Sent: 3/26/2005 1:58 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'Aaron' on 3/26/2005 1:58 PM
550 not local host cox.net, not a gateway"

That is only an example, but I get the same message with almost whatever
person I want to send an email, with whatever server. Most of them are
"reply".

I use a private server, but the emails don't reach it, since there is
nothing on my server (I keep all the emails on it). I can send them directly
from the server, it works, then I assume it is a OL problem. I asked some
comp wizard who says this message doesn't make sense.

Can you help me, please?

Thanks a lot

trying creating a new message instead of hitting reply
if you get the same message, you know what's wrong
reply is not allowed

No, it is not that. i just created one and I get:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 3/26/2005 8:33 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 3/26/2005 8:33 PM
550 not local host wanadoo.fr, not a gateway

Other server, other country....
What else can it be?
Thanks

Please, it is a real nuisance! It is not with ONE address but with almost
all. I know they ARE valid, and the emails leave from the server.

Can you really help me?
Thanks

tell me more about your private server............................

do you use web based mail? trying send a message and bcc to yourself and
see whether you get a copy in your mailbox

if you don't get a copy, something is wrong with you pop mail????

It is basically saying that you aren't permitted to send email from that
server. The server might require you to authenticate or to log in before
sending or require an email address valid to its domain. Some require that
the IP address you are sending from is owned by them. Check with the
provider.

Thanks both of you. I will try to answer, maybe I was not very clear.
The server is hosted by Readyhosting, Web based, and I have had it for
years. The IP address and all the settings are ok. Actually, I can send
emails to the persons with the same address (including me, I just did the
test).

I am permitted to send email from the server since when they don't leave
from Outlook (XP), I am able to send them directly from the server site. It
is why I think there is something wrong with OL, but I just reinstalled
Office (repaired), and I have the same error. At the beginning (of this
error), only some didn't go through. Now, none of them except the persons
with the same address.

I really need your assistance.
Thanks

Sending from the server site is different to sending from Outlook.
Is this a POP3 account or not?

See if setting your SMTP connection for authentication helps.
If it doesn't help you might need to contact your email provider and have
them add your IP address to the allowed list.

I know this will not help, but I have started getting similar errors
myself. My OL has been operating fine for the last three years, and all
of a sudden this week, I am not able to send. Everything sits in the
Outbox waiting for a response. Again, I know it is neither the account
settings nor permissions as nothing as changed.

Furthermore, I have tried on three POP servers and they all do the same
thing. The REAL confusing thing is that should I try sending a Test
Message from the Account Mangement section of OL, it goes through fine
?!?!

If you hear anything, please can you post it as I am getting desperate
here. Similarly, if I do I shall post...

Enable logging and post the contents of the OPMLog.log file. Perhaps we can
figure out what's happening then.

Hi all. I have the same problem but I know when it strats to happen:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: oswaldo23
Sent: 2/14/2006 2:48 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

user2.tema.com.mx' on 2/14/2006 2:48 PM
550 not local host tema.com.mx, not a gateway

IT STARTS TO HAPPEND AFTER:
I tried to set a meeting with the user2.tema.com.mx, and the mail never left
my local computer I could see the outbox working and once sent I have the
error mail at my inbox. my conection is very slow so I am pretty confident
the mesagge never try to reach my ISP, everything happened localy.

Then I can not send any mail to this node "tema.com.mx" to any user. but I
have more than a hundred other users in diferent nodes witch I have no
problem at all.

Ofcourse I use POP3 service, but I also have webmail, and from it, there is
no problem sending mail to any user at "tema.com.mx".

I have another computer at home with Outlook conected to the same ISP and
same mail server, and there is no problem sending mail to "tema.com.mx". So I
am pretty sure, something happend with my Outlook configuration and I can not
find where to change it.

As the error says , somehow the Outlook thinks my computer is a valid mail
host.

This was driving me mad!

I have several accounts but use one as the default account to send from. I
turns out that for some reason if you reply to a message received into a
particular account it replies from that account for that message and for
subsequent messages even though the send default is still set.

Either make sure you send from you default or change the settings on accoun
accounts to use SMTP authentication and leave a copy of the message on the
server.

Yipeee it works.
