Problem seeing streaming video

I keep getting the following message when I try to see videos on sites like
YouTube:
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of
Macromedia's Flash Player." I have downloaded Flash Player 9 and I believe I
have my JavaScript turned on. In the Sucurity tab of IE 6.0 I have the
JavaApplets enabled. My security setting is Medium. Any ideas why I can't see
the streaming video?
Thanks.

Open that tab again. Find "Scripting of Java applets" and scroll up two
to "Active Scripting." Enable it. (There's a difference between
Javascript and Java.)

Thanks, Dave, BUT I still have the same problem. "Active scripting" is
already enabled. Now what? Any ideas?

Thanks,

I'm guessing that you're running an older version of Flash Player then.

Search your hard drive for NPSWF32.dll (the Flash plugin). What version
is it?

Or you can go to
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/

Next to the first paragraph you should see a box that tells you which
version you have installed.

Upgrade if necessary.

One more thing:

Certain programs have settings to block Flash (e.g., SpywareBlaster). If
you're running that program, click on Tools > Flash Killer, then uncheck
the box at the bottom that says "Disable and block Macromedia Flash in
Internet Explorer."

If you'd like a small freeware app that will accomplish this quickly (by
default, I prefer Flash to be disabled), I recommend TurnFlash:

I recently had this problem. After successful viewing of Youtube and
similar sites for months, suddenly none of them worked for me. I am
not computer savvy but I tried the Youtube instructions repeatedly;
enabled Javascript over and over again, used the link to get the latest
Flash again and again. Nothing helped.
Finally I deleted Flash altogether, removed the program from the
system completely. Powered down and up a number of times to make sure
every remnant was gone. Then I went to Adobe Flash -- but not thru the
link on the Youtube page -- and downloaded the whole latest version
from scratch. And instantly everything worked again.
Can't explain it. But that's what worked for me.
By the way, I was having terrible trouble with QuickTime but there's
an Alternate QT program on the internet that provided a perfectly
working substitute for it.
