Problem seeing network has something to do with AntiVirus Software

I have a new wireless Laptop Running Windows XP. I have a home network
(WorkGroup) with several computers. All computers can see the local network
except my new XP laptop. This has nothing to do with network permissions.
I've discovered that I was able to finally see my local network after
uninstalling the virus protection software that came with my computer. After
uninstalling I could access other computer's shared folders, etc. The free
virus software that came with my computer (temporary) was McAffee and Norton.

I just installed another virus protection software and once again I can't
see my local network. I think this is some kind of bug. Does anyone have a
solution. I see on the internet a lot of people having problems with their XP
computers seeing the local network. I think this is their problem also.
There is no problems getting out to the internet and email, etc.

Anyone from Microsoft reading this?

Your help will be appreciated.

Hi
1. Do not use more than One Antivirus or and Firewall at the same time.

2. The way you describe the problem seems to indicate that the issue is with a specific
program, might be that you want to contact the third party in question.

3. I use this free for personal use Antivirus, works very well with all versions of
Windows Client OS, http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/AntiVir_PE/antivir.html
