Problem playing CD

B

Bill P

Hi
When I insert a music CD into the CD-ROM drive, the CD opens in WMP and the
music plays - all as it should be.
However, if I close WMP and then sometime later go into My Computer and
double click the CD icon to listen again I get the following error "This
file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
I am sure I used to be able to replay this way but something seems to have
gone awry.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Bill

Hi ahmadfix
I should have said that CD Audio Track is listed with .cda extension.
Audio CD is not listed.
When I explore CD and double click on a cda track WMP opens OK but if I
double click on Audio CD icon in My Computer then I get the error as I said
in orig post.

Hi Bill,,

In FleTypes CLick on New button then in Ile Extension type (NONE) inn
Advanced option choose AudioCD..

Then click on new entry and select advannce.. Make a new action named
&Play.. then Appliacation used to perform action as
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:3
/device:AudioCD "%L"

Application as "wmplayer"
and finally topic as "System"

Hope this solves

Hi ahmadfix
Thanks for your reply. It looks likely that it could be the
solution, however, when I come to "...in Advanced option choose Audio CD" I do
not have that option. I do have the following :-

Audible Audio
Audio CD Track
Audio Playlist
Audio Renderers Collection class
Audio CD Task Class
Audio CD Task Px Class
Audio Transform Class
CD Audio Track (which is already allocated to extension .cda)

but no Audio CD.

Can I use one of the above alternatives instead ?

Bill

Try choosing
Audio CD Track though not sure.. I guess some registry entry got deleted..
By the way bill I would be glad if you can give me a rating

AudioCD should be listed with all the others that have (NONE) in the
extensions column.

Hi Frank
Yes I have been told that but it isn't there on my system. It must have been
deleted somehow. Is there a way that I can get it back?

Bill
