problem playing a video clip

I have my captured videos in a folder. When I try to open any of these files, I get the error messages "windows explorer has detected errors and needs to close". The box is closed, and the desk top gets refreshed. I also get the message "Windows media player has encountered error and needs to close this "; same thing happens. The crazy part is that even if I open the folder containing the videos, the same error message happens. I am running Win XP on an AMD K6 machine. I have 100 g. harddrive; 384 mb ram. and my video card is ATI All-in-Wonder Pro
I hope someone in the XP community could help.
