Problem on first boot

When I turn on my pc after I get back from work, XP seems a bit instable
where applications I run usually shuts down forcibly with a windows message
saying the application ran into a critical error and needs to be shut down.

After I reboot, it goes away.

But the problem will reappear after the pc has been shut down for a while.
I usually start up my pc around 7PM, shut down around midnight. I go to
work and come back and turn on the pc...the problem is there again.

Any clue? I'm running XP on a P4 (2ghz / 1.5gb ram).

Thanks

Check your power supply. When you do the cold boot it may not be providing
regulated power withing specs but after the reboot it either warms up or the
reboot itself jolts it enough to bring it within specs again.

Also, the power supply itself may not have enough of an output to meet the
requirements of everything you're trying to run and this has loaded down the
unit long enough that it's finally crapping out.
