problem: new text typed picks up previously selected text font cha

I selected the text in a one-word paragraph and changed the font effect to
"Hidden". But now if I type any new text it also becomes hidden. How can I
stop this?

Here's an example:
"<UserID>" is the one-word paragraph. I want it to be hidden but if the
user types his/her userid on that line I don't want it to be hidden.

You're trying to create some kind of form? Using which version of Word?

I can tell you that there's no setting or anything so "simple" that will let
you do this. It's going to take a bit more work...
