Problem loading XP home

Please I need an answer to a question. I bought an OEM full version of XP Home edition but when we tried to load it, it would not load, kept saying files missing or processor errors. It just kept starting and stopping, but not loading. The tech that I had here ran some tests to make sure it was not a problem with my computer and he came to the conclusion that there was a fault with the CD. He even loaded another version of XP but it was the retail version and it loaded with no problem. I wanted to take the OEM version back to the place I bought it, but they feel that the disk is not faulty and asked if the other one that we tried was retail. What difference would that make whether it was OEM or retail as regards loading, is there a difference? Is anyone able to answer this one

There shouldn't be any difference....sounds like your CD is defective.
Return it for a replacement.
