Problem loading old PC version of Word 2000 onto new laptop

I am no longer using an old PC that had Office 2000 on it. It came with the
PC and I have the CD's and Certificate of Authenticity. I have loaded this
onto my new laptop and all seems to go well except when I try to open Word I
get the Word 2000 logo box and nothing happens. After a few seconds the box
goes away and nothing. Excel and PowerPoint open just fine. Any idea of what
my problem might be?
 
Such software is only licensed for use on the PC upon which it came
installed.
