Problem launching add or remove programs

I cannot launch Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP Home Edition. I get the
following error message when I try to launch it in Control Panel. The problem
is I am not sure if it has ever worked as I haven't used it before and to add
to the problem I have no disk for Windows - moved house recently so probably
lost it! Can anyone help please?

Error message:
An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell.dll,Control_RunDLL
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\appwiz.cpl",Add or Remove Programs"

I too have been havijng the same exact problem for the past two months. I get
the following message.
"An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL"C:windows\system32\appwiz.cpt",", add or remove programs"

I am running a Pentium 3 866mghz system with XP professional and SP2
installed a long time ago. Thus I can not uninstall programs.

This error has persisted for months and now does not allow me to remove the
Norton Internet Security Suite which is screwing up my Outlook 2003 email.
There are many other programs I have not been able to uninstall due to this
error. I would fix it using my original Windows XP Professional software, but
it can not be used after SP2, which I have installed a long time ago.

PLEASE HELP! My best email address is (e-mail address removed)

I am experiencing a similiar problem. When I click on add/remove programs,
the hour glass comes up for a quick second, then nothing happens. I had
several virus/spyware and have gotten those all taken care of and add/remove
still does not open. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated
