problem installing xp pro "not a windows xp-compatible partition"

eric

I am currently trying to install windows xp on a new hard
drive, and everytime I go through the setup screen and
get to the installation on a partition screen to select
what partition you want to install xp on, an error
message comes up and says it says "unknown disk"
and "this is not a Windows XP compatible partition.
Please create a windows xp compatible partition on the
disc above." I originally thought it was a software
problem, but I tried a different disc and it did the same
thing. I also tried formatting the hard drive from
another computer in both FAT32 and NTFS format, but
nothing has worked yet. If someone could give me some
help that would be great! Thanks!

Eric

Eric, disable Virus protection in the Bios and select Optimum Defaults.
Disconnect all devices that you
don't need for the install. Use the Primary IDE Channel with the Drive by
itself as Master.
