Problem installing SP1a

Hi
Can any body help.....
I have recently had a problem with my system and I had to
reformat the hard disk and install every thing again. I
installed windows XP - Pro successfully and I tried to
install Service Pack 1a. After unpacking the file it came
back with following error:
"Service Pack 1 Setup cannot update a checked (debug)
system with a free (retail) version of service Pack 1 or
vice versa".
I am using dialup to connect to internet. I was getting a
lot of problems installing dialup manager. I was advised
to install service pack 1a.
I have down loaded the service pack 1a from Microsoft web
site and installed it on a disk. It is two executable
files, one unpack the whole 148 MB of the service pack
and the other one installs it.
I have installed XP-professional from Microsoft XP-Pro
disk and trying to install service pack from the disk I
have created from Microsoft download site. Since I have
no dialup, I can not connect to internet, as a result
this is the only solution.
Does any body know what this means. Any advise on how I
can get round this error message.
Many thanks.
Regards,

Frank.

as far as i know, there is only one file for sp1 or sp1a...the files are
automatically unpacked on the fly prior to installation.
