Problem installing from a mapped network drive

Hi,

this error is driving me NUTS! every time i try to install a package
on my win2k server from a mapped network drive i get the following
error:
%Program name% Installer Information
internal error 2755 %drive letter%\%path%\%name of the MSI package%

if i try to install from a local drive, everything works. If i try to
install through a UNC path the installation also succeeds. Any ideas?
i've been seaching discussion groups for days but none of the proposed
solutions seem to work...

Thanks
Jo Harding

This is the kind of issue you see in Terminal Services environments, but I
think there are other scenarios that cause it. Mapped drives (or subst
drives) are user-specific mappings and therefore not consistent. For
example, Windows Installer remembers the install location in case of repair
or adding other features later from the same MSI file, and that doesn't work
for other users with different drive mappings if you install it from a
mapped drive that is specific to one user. If you look at this error in the
MS knowledge base, you'll see that using a UNC is the recommeneded way.
