In Windows 2000 the modem manufacturer list displayed a bunch of
manufacturers.
And in 2000, my modem was supported with a native driver bundled with
Windows 2000. No extra driver was necessary.
In Windows XP it only displays one, (Standard Modem Types), which contains
standard modems.
From the posts I've seen, the recommendation is to download an updated
driver.
The problem is that my modem (PowerBit EDV 33600) was manufactured by AU
Systems in Sweden, and has been bought by another company, and no longer
deals in hardware, so no driver is available from them.
My assumption is that Windows XP should support more modems than Windows
2000, or am I wrong here?
The thing is, that from searching the web, I've seen that XP in some
instances populates the Manufacturer list (as seen in the followong pic from
Pacific Internet support pages -
http://www.pacific.net.ph/Dialer/winxp_mod32.gif), but not so with my
installation (Windows XP Home Edition).
So, anyone know how to get the default list of manufacturers to appear in
the list?
