problem instaling printer

I did add new hardware , i downloaded the driver from
manufacturers website, i clicked have disk , i installed
the driver and at the end installation screen of add new
hardware there is an error msg:

"An error occured during the installation of this device"
"The specified port is unknown"

if i click on Start , Settings , Printers & Faxes .
and click 'Add A Printer'
a Stop error comes up "Operation Could Not Be Completed"
click OK.

Anyone have any ideas?

Press winkey-break(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl') ,/Hardware tab Open the Device
manager and click the + sign next to Ports(COM & LPT). select the printer
port, e.g. ECP Printer Port (LPT1). Port Settings tab check the 'Enable
legacy Plug and Play detection'

Solution:
I found that in my SERVICES , my print spool was not
started.
