Problem inserting Visio file into Word doc

Whenever we try to insert a Visio file...and, also another Word document file
into our master document, the file contents are displayed rather than an icon
for the file being inserted into the document. Any clues where we're going
wrong??

In Insert, Object, Create for file, ensure you check the Display as Icon box.
