Problem in setting machine name -reg

Dear Friends,

I am having a machine with 2 operating systems (Windows 2003 Server &
Windows XP) installed and it is in a Domain.

I have booted in to windows 2003 Server and set the machine name as
"Thirumalai", Then I have restarted the machine and then booted in to
windows xp professional and when I saw the machine name, it shows different
name.Then again I set the machine name as "Thirumalai" and it throws the
error message like "The host name already exists".

Why this is happening?. Please help me.
