Problem in seeing query in SQL mode

Giancarlo P.

Please help me, if you can. I use Access 2003 and open a data base that I
created some time ago. I have some queries in this data base, but I can't
open them in SQL. I can see queries in structure mode, but I am not able to
see SQL code. I know there was a button near menu File which permits to see
SQL code but... it disappeared and I can't find it! I tried to modify menu
bar, but even if I insert manually the button to edit SQL, button is always
disabled.

Is there anybody who can suggest me what is wrong? Thanks a lot!

I have no idea what the problem is. Have you tried compacting and
repairing it?
What about creating a new database and copying the queries into it?

I even tried to create a new data base, but the problem is always there. I
think it is some kind of stupid error of mines, but I can't understand what
is it.

I tried right clicking on datasheet header... but what is exactly a
datasheet header? In any case I right clicked everywhere but I didn't find
sql view.
Should it be possible to send a screenshot of my Access? Maybe in this way
it will be easier to explain.

Thanks a lot for helping

It may be that you have changed the default query design toolbar - the
leftmost button in the toolbar should be a dropdown giving the choice between
datasheet view, design view, and SQL view.

An alternative is to use the "View" menu option. One of the choices is SQL.

I tried to change toolbar, choosing Query Structure toolbar. There is the
dropdown button you are talking about, but it is disabled! It is impossible
to click on it, it appears on grey colour, even if I am selecting a query.
Thanks for help!

What's the *extension* on the name of this database file? If it's .mde or
..accde, then many of your design tools are no longer available; it's a
"compiled" version of the original .mdb/.accdb file. I'd have thought this
would only affect form design, report design, and VBA code though. Possibly
you have a database with workgroup security enabled - do you need to enter a
username and password to open it?
