Problem in attaching files

I am using Outlook 2007. Whenever I go to attach a file I get a message that
says Initializing Folders and then Initializing root folders to display. It
takes forever everytime I click on a new folder to search for my file. It
started doig this in Outlook 2003 and I figured it would go away when I
upgraded. Any help would be appreciated as its excruciating to attach a file.

Thanks

Do you have any network drives mapped?

This is at my home but I think I do have one network drive mapped for when I
connect to work via a VPN. I rarely use it. Should I disconnect it or delete?

Thanks

If you have a drive mapped and the network to which it connects isn't
available, the symptoms you describe are common.
