Attach Picture to Outlook 2007 E-mail

I am using Outlook 2007 and every time I compose e-mail and attempt to attach
a picture I get the command: “Initializing Folders - Initial the Root Folders
to Display." It takes ten or more seconds to initialize folders and then I
can attach a picture from the selected folder. I never had to go through all
this with previous versions of Outlook nor do I have to go through the
"Initializing Folders" with Outlook Express. Is this normal with Outlook 2007
and is there a way to just click on attach and go directly to the folder
where the picture is? I have uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook with the
same results.

Do you have any network drives mapped that currently can't be reached? Unmap
them and try again.

This is somewhat embarrassing. After uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook, I
experienced the same issue. To access my drives/folders all I had to was
click on My Computer and there they were - all my drives! My problem was I
was clicking on the down arrow on top to access drives/folders as I did in
previous versions. It took my wife to point this out! Thank you for your
quick response and willingness to assist.

Is unmapping realy the only solution to get Office and all other new MS
Produkts to working @ an speed where you not think that you are back @ an XT
PC ??

I dont understand why only MS products cry about this missing share and
search on each open/save/close again for the missing share while the OS
itself know this already @ bootup and give you a info about this.

It depends a bit on the share. I personally don't have any slowness issues
when my network folder isn't mapped. Recreating the share might be the full
solution. I don't know the full cause of the issue.

I have the same problem and agree with Mike. It looks like kuyarog only
solved the problem by remembering to go to My computer in the shortcuts
instead of using the arrow to access new folders. This is ridiculous.

I just starting using Outlook 2007 3 weeks ago and have found it slow and
problematic. I experience the "folder initializing" wait problem when trying
to save files from an e-mail. I will try "un-mapping drives" but this was a
fresh install on a new computer running with Windows XP. It really should not
be a problem.
