Problem importing Personal Folder file

J

Jeff Ingman

Wife's laptop crashed hard. Had to reload MS Vista with help from HP support.
Before we started the reinstall of Vista we used the MS utility to save data
files to an external hard drive.

After we got Vista running again I reinstalled MS office and restored the
data files to her C drive.

Now I want to import her pst file. But when I try the import and point to
the recovered pst file I get a message saying I don't have permission.

How do I get around this roadblock? (I do have Admin privledges.)

There's no need to Import. Just open Outlook and use File | OPen | Outlook
data file and browse to your .pst to open it in Outlook. There are
thousands of posts here about not using Import to bring Outlook files into
Outlook - it causes many headaches.

Have you checked the PST file's attribute? You need to remove the Read Only
attribute.
