Problem formating a new RAID Array on Win2000 Server

A

Andreas Vogt

Hello,

I have got 2 250GB SATA HDDs on a EX-340 SATA Raid Controller with a SIL3124
Chip.
The RAID1 Array is 238GB.

The new volume was recognized after a reboot and I see it in the
Volumemanager (german Windows: Datenträgerverwaltung). Creating a Partition
is possible.

Formating the new Drive with "format h: /fs:ntfs" generates the following
error message:

German: "Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt ?Allocate@MEM_ALLOCATOR@@QAEPAXK@Z wurde
in der
DLL "ulib.dll" nicht gefunden"
English: "The Procedure entry point ?Allocate@MEM_ALLOCATOR@@QAEPAXK@Z was
not found in the DLL "ulib.dll".

Formating the new drive in dteh volumemanager generates the following error
message:
"formating cannot be performed without errors"

The DLL is existing in c:\winnt\system32 and Version is: 5.0.2195.3649
(german Windows)

Any Ideas ?

I need the new Drive really quick..

If you're formatting from within Windows 2000 then why not use Disk
Management?

Start|Run|diskmgmt.msc

This may also help.

Hi,
If you're formatting from within Windows 2000 then why not use Disk
Management?

Start|Run|diskmgmt.msc

I tried this, but I get the error message (in german), that the
formatting cannot be performed without errors.
The drive is not formatted after this action.

I guess it depends on the ulib.dll, 5.00.2195.3649(Version), which is
not up-to-date, but the ulib.dll 5.00.2195.6625 would..

Can I just move the ulib.dll ?

Is there a hotfix applicable ?

regards,

Andreas Vogt

The DLL is from SP3. I'd install SP4 then;
