Problem displaying some web pages - FTP ports??

Since installing Orange's Livebox 8meg broadband on Thursday, I have
experienced problems in accessing some websites, where the following message
appears:
'Internet explorer cannot display the web page'
The majority of websites are fine, but in particular I've been unable to get
onto PC World, Currys,Fast Rewind, and a couple of others, which I know are
working as my neighbour has been accessing at exactly the same time as I've
been trying.
I have run the 'diagnose connection problems' and the following message
appears:
'Windows did not detect any problems with your internet connections over
HTTP and HTTPS, but was not able to make a successful connection over FTP.
The most likely cause of this problem is that a firewall client running on
your machine is blocking the necessary FTP ports. If you are trying to use
FTP, please contact the manufaturer of your PC for assistance'
I have tried switching off my firewall, but still have been unable to access
these sites. I have run all updates, and given my machine some maintenance,
and I've also been on Inetrnet Explorer help but they have baffled me. Does
anyone know what I can do to try and fix this?
For information, I'm using Internet Explorer 7, Windows XP, and the
broadband isn't set up wirelessly. Thanks in advance.

In the "Internet Options", Advanced Tab, do you have the "Use Passive
FTP" option checked?

Hi John,

Thaks for your suggestion, I have ensured this is checked (it is), and the
