Problem Creating Distribution Lists!

G

Guest

Exchange Server 2003. Outlook 2003. I have moved my Outlook contacts to the
public folder under Exchange Server 2003. No problem there. All users can
access these contacts. I am trying to rebuild Outlook distribution lists
(DL) in the public folder Outlook contacts, exactly as they appeared when
they were on my local workstation. However, I keep getting the following
error:

This distribution list has reached the maximum size for your network email
server. No new members could be added.

What do I need to set in Exchange Server to enable these DLs to be created
without error. In the case at hand, the DL needs to contain 125 names, which
was no problem when the DL was on my workstation under Outlook. I only now
get the error since moving to Exchange Server.

PLEASE HELP. SO FAR NO ONE HAS GIVEN AN ANSWER TO REPEATED POSTS ON THIS
ISSUE. I AM GETTING THE FEELING THAT I AM ALONE IN THE ETHER WITH THIS SO
FAR TROUBLESOME PRODUCT.

The reason you get no answers here is that this is an Exchange question and
this is an Outlook group. I for one have never used Exchange.
Have you tried an Exchange group?

Dear Russ:

The reason I posted this to Outlook was because I got the error in Outlook.
I posted in the hopes that someone else who is using Outlook with Exchange
Server would have gotten the error and found a fix.

The thing that confounds me is that I have built many distribution lists
(DL) when Outlook was using my Person Folders rather than an Exchange
mailbox. The identical DLs cannot be built now that I am connected to
Exchange Server. Exchange Serve was to open the world up to me with regard
to creating shared Outlook folders (that everyone on my net could use). Now
I cannot even set up a 100 person DL! If this was 20 years ago I might
expect such limitations. It makes no sense on a system with 200 GB of disk
and 3 GB of memory!

Is there a way I can contact Microsoft if there is no resolution through the
newsgroups?

Any reason you can't ask in an Exchange group as I suggested? DL's on
Exchange server are a different species entirely and you will not find an
answer here.

Dear Russ:

I have posted on Exchange Server groups today. Not getting any better
response. However, I do not understand DLs being a different bird under
Exchange Server. They are still DLs, being created in Outlook contacts, just
being stored on the Exchange Server rather than my workstation. Now if you
mean Distribution Groups (DG) in Exchange Server, then yes a different bird
that cannot get the job done for me as DGs only allow entries of people who
are in the same domain ([email protected]). I need to make DLs
that contain email addresses from many different domains.

I have been know to keep asking the same question until I get an answer
other than "no" if I am convinced that there has to be a "yes" out there.
Thanks for trying to help. God bless.

You might also try one of the general Outlook groups. Some of the Exchange
folks read those groups as well.
