Sending Distribution List Outlook 2007

M

Missy

We're using Outlook 2007 on the Exchange Server 2003

Trying to share distribution list from one pc to another. When we open the
DL, click the SEND then In Outlook Format. Sends to the other person in an
e-mail - we then open and save to contacts on the new PC. But when trying to
actually send a message to the DL from the new PC - it will not deliver.
Says message is undeliverable. it appears like it is looking for the
individual contact and not just pulling the address from the DL. We don't
want to share the entire contact folder - just the DL.

If you open this DL from the PC to which it was sent, does it look normal,
i.e., do the names and addresses appear as they should? What do you mean it
"appears to be looking for the individual contact?"
By which method are you selecting this DL as a recipient?

It sounds like the DL contains linked contacts - you'll need to have the
contacts in the folder or forward it in vcard format. The recipient may
need to copy the names and addresses into a DL
(http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/copy_data.htm), but they won't need the
matching contacts.

When creating the DL we used either the select members or add new from the
ribbon. When adding new they were not always added as contacts.
We don't want to have to copy an entire contact folder with say 300 contacts
to get only 50 that are in the DL. Or search through the folder and send 50
individually. Defeats the purpose of a distribution list.
The article you referenced only shows to copy info into a different program
than Outlook - couldn't see where it showed steps to keep in outlook.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
