Problem copying email addresses (nicknames) cinto Distribution Lis

Hi,
I copy email addresses from an email I received. I then paste them into the
"Member" area of the distribution list. However, the nicknames that are
included in the copy do not expand out and show the full email address.
While trying to save, the distribution list points out that I don't have a
full email address.

If I copy this same list of addresses, hit reply and put them into a to: or
cc: box, they all expand out to show nickname and full email address. I try
copying this and it reverts back to nickname where ever I past it.

Would appreciate any thoughts on how to overcome.

You can only use this method if the field from which you are copying contain
both names and full email addresses. Apparently, yours does not.

Thanks for the answer.

I've seen your name through these postings so I guess you must be the guru.
Is there anyway to capture the email addresses in bulk vs. right-clicking
one-by-one?

I have also just found I have this problem. To 'beat' the system i have
tried to copy the contact nickname along with the email address formatted as:
firstname lastname <[email protected]>; into notepad and excel. In both
programs its pastes only as the nickname. It seems that when copying the
address while in outlook the clipboard does not save the email address, only
the name. I don't remember this being a problem in the past. I am currently
using Outlook 2003 SP2. Any ideas woudl be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick M

Thank you for this - but it doesn't deal with the underlying questions. How
does one expand the "Nicknames" to include the email address? How does one
then copy this information to aother programme, e.g. wordprocessing?

Thank you

Russ - There are a number of posts that say: copy the name/addresses from the
CC/BC area and paste to members. It doesn't work!! I've used this approach
in the past and it has worked, but obviously something has changed.

I have outlook 2007 and in the CC box or a received message, both name and
email addresses appear in the standard format: NickName <[email protected]> ;
and when these items are ctrl-c/ctrl-v (or copy/paste from toolbar or mouse)
ONLY the Nick name gets pasted!! Doesn't matter where it's pasted to, so it
appears that only the Nick name gets copied to the clipboard.

What's the deal here?? is it some kind of security "solution??" to not paste
email addresses??

There's another post that suggests adding each name to you contacts list and
then the nickname will resolve, but I don't want to do that for a number of
reasons.

Is there a solution for this??

thanks so much for you help!!
