Okay, this is a weird one. I created a draft email in Vista Windows Mail
that has a website link. I created this "standard" email because it's one
that I send to different people who request some information from me. This
way I don't have to retype the email everytime--I just copy and paste.
However...
I just discovered by chance that when I do that in MS mail, while the link
looks fine, when it is sent, MS mail adds a bunch of additional code to the
front that causes the link to not work. For example, the link may say
http://www.poweraffirmations.com. However, when it is received by the
customer, while the link looks the same, the real underlying link is
something like:
mhtml:{83DC196B-0529-4AF1-BC90-FA87B8F49C59}mid://00000487/!x-usc:http://www.poweraffirmations.com/
which is usless--the link doesn't work.
What's also weird is that if I select the link to look at the properties
before it is sent, the link shows up correctly without the additional code.
And when it is received, it works fine.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? is there a setting I need
to change so that this doesn't happen any more? This is really bothersome
especially because the problem is so hidden. There is absolutely no
indication that Mail is adding this additional tag/code/whatever at the time
I'm creating or sending the email. To all appearances, it looks fine when
sent and when received. It's only when you click it that the problem becomes
apparent. I didn't even think to investigate this until a customer contacted
me telling me that the link I sent them didn't work.
Thanks,
Bill
