Problem connecting to internet through another computer

I am having problems connecting my laptop through the internet via a x-over
cable. The Main computer (with the internet connection) has an I.P address
for the internet and for another computer in the network places, however in
the laptop there is nothing. When i run the netwrok wizard I get the
following error message

spoolsv.exe - Application Error

The intruction at "0x77f78bf9"referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory
could not be "read"

Please advise, have a very limited knowledge of networking and computers

Can you ping the ICS host? posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help.
