Problem capturing audio in Windows MovieMaker

When I try to capture a video I can only get the video only and no audio. I
have a vcr hooked up to a Dazzle DVC (Digital Video Creator) 90 video capture
card and have the proper connections (video in going from vcr to Video In on
capture card and both audio inputs right and left) and just can't get any
sound.

I also have Studio 9 QuickStart software from Pinnacle Systems in which I
can hear the sound and see the video together. I would like to use Windows
MovieMaker because it makes smaller video files than Studio QuickStart 9 from
Pinnacle.

I was having the same problem with my DVC 80. I ended up having some other
problems and actually have a post here to see if I can get that fixed. As I
was looking to see if I could find the answer for my problem I found the
answer to my first issue and your current issue - I think. Someone posted
they were having the same problem with the sound. They said under the "audio
input source you need to select "microphone". I know when I was trying to
get my sound to work I selected everyone except that one. Who would think it
was that one. This person claimed that fixed the problem. Since I am having
other issues with my DVC I can't confirm if it does work. But I think you
should give it a try and if it does work - lets us know.

When I choose the Microphone and choose the Dazzle DVC90 as the Audio source
the I can see the sound levels go up turn green but as I get into the wizard
and start the capture process I still don't get sound.

Ya, I just got my other problem fixed thanks to "PAPAJOHN". I went and tried
the microphone option and that didnt work for me either. Hopefully someone
will help us.

G'day guys

see post "no audio when capturing video" 2\5\2006 this thread.

Check cables, then check cables again, then enable "capture audio"

option in capture software, use line-in works for me.

Don't forget to enable record in volume control and select line-in, tick it.

start menu\all programs\accessories\entertainment\volume control

PS tricks, sometimes 3.5mm stereo plug that goes into sound card or

TV card may need to be jiggled around a bit as all plugs don't fit all

cards accurately like they should.

Some plugs should not be pushed right in, a thumbnail width between

plug and socket often works, that way stereo contacts meet accurately.

Good Luck

Thanks Grumpy,
I had to select the option in recording. "what you hear" worked for me.
Now I can finally start my project.
Thanks again for all the help.
