Problem Browsing

T

Tony G.

I'm working on a Compaq desktop w/Win 98 & IE 6.028. It's
in a home network with four other Pc's. All the others
access the internet through a Linksys hub connected to a
Linksys router connected to Cable Internet service.

This Pc accessed the internet two weeks ago without a
problem and it runs Norton's A/V and has been updated.

I can ping the router from this pc, and verified the Ip
address (192.168.1.25) is not used on another Pc and thd
dns settings match the other pc's. I thought IE neded to
be reinstalled to correct some corrupt files, but didn't
know where to download a copy to reinstall.

Your suggestions are approciated.

Tony

Subject: Cannot access any IP starting with 192

To everyone that have had this problem, I finally found
the answer, please follow this link:

Thanks Henri and others.

I ran WINIPCFG.EXE (which for anyone else reading this, create a shortcut to
this and place it in your System Tools folder in your start menu)

Indeed my wireless card had an IP address beginning with 192. I released
that card then rebooted and viola!!!!! HP.com is now accessible!

If anyone else reads the page Henri pointed me to, they may notice they can
reach some of the pages that individual reported he couldn't access,
nevertheless, the tip still works.... simply release the IP address for
your network card and reboot, this should fix it.

Many thanks again Henri,

Dave
