Jorgen [2400/DK]

Hey,

I have nothing but problem with my newly purchased A7V880 board and my HIS
Excalibur Radeon 9600 (256mb).

Any one know related problems with these two ?

regards

What kind of problems are you having? I have the same MB and a Nvidia
GeForce FX5200 and my system when playing a game will all of a sudden
reboot, don't know why?

my problem is simply that the Catalyst driver doesn't work. I need to start
the system in VGA mode... Otherwise, I just get a black screen.

I assume you've downloaded and installed the most current drivers on ATI's
website.

Anyone else notice bad voltages? Like, for 12v, in the bios it reads 11.3
and in AsusProbe it reads 11.8, but in the previous motherboard it was 12.0
???

Just put in bios 1007 and it's the same.

Hi,

sofar the best solution has been to use OLD catalyst drivers, this seems to
do the trick... but hardly a long term solution..

I doubt the voltage is the problem here, since it runs smoothly with either
"standard vga"-drivers and in VGA mode.

Yeah ... I'm asking a new question while I have you other a7v880 owners'
attention!

As I recall, 12V shows about .5 volt low in BIOS. I'd have to reboot to
confirm but I know it reads low. Probe currently shows it at 12.16V.

Thanks! Now I can use that with support when I ask for a new bios.
Maybe we can all let them know.
My 3 main rails were fine on my Biostar but now all read .1 low in Probe,
and the 12v reads real low in the bios.

Also the vcore reads low in the bios.

OK. I checked BIOS readings vs. Probe and here they are:

Voltage BOIS PROBE
VCORE 1.612 1.712
3.3 3.34-3.36 3.34
5.0 4.97-5.00 4.87-4.89
12 11.55-11.61 12.16 rock solid

The Vcore and 12 volt readings are suspect, especially the 12V reading.
Which is wrong?

I assume you're asking ASUS for 1008 or whatever.

Yes, exactly. Could you let them know too? tsd @ asus . com (at least for
the usa).

I get the same vcore and 12v variations. And the 3.3, 5, and 12 ar .1v lower
in Probe than they read in my Biostar.

Last time I let them know they asked me to run it out of the box, then left
me.
