Prob with XP Pro and SP2,...

since installing SP2 ... I cannot download from websites anymore...has
anyone else had this problem and if so is there a fix?

Your new IE pop-up blocker is probably stopping the download prompt. In IE
go to tools -- pop-up blocker to configure it.

thanks for the quick response but I already stopped pop-up blocker and
turned off the security center stuff...but to no avail

no..I turned off all the security centre stuff as I use Zone Alarm pro...the
prob only started after installing SP2..I've checked IE settings an all is
in the right place

You might want to check 2 things: Make sure Zone Alarm did not create a rule
to dis-allow you to download. I had a problem after installing sp2 that
Norton Firewall created a rule to not allow the World Wide Web Publishing
service to start.
Check also to make sure the BITS service is running.

yup both are fine..still no joy..one of the download sites I was trying to
use is

tried loads more an no luck

found it... had to toggle the Passive FTP in internet options
