I have a new vision desktop w/ no OS, P4 3.0, 512 DDR ram, 80GB HD.
I am trying to intall XP Pro w/ SP2. I get all the way through the DOS
setup proccess of downloading files etc... when it reboots after the blue
screen DOS stuff, It says: press any key to boot from CD. I've done this two
ways. One, when it warns I have 15 sec till reboot, I take out the XP CD.
It reboots without asking me to press any key for CD and it gives me the
Splash Screen (with the "knight rider" bar thing) and then freezes. No
movement, no change for over 45 min. I never get to the GUI setup to enter
Product Key or anything. I get the same result when leaving the XP CD in the
drive and just not pressing anything. I've also tried pressing a key and
re-entering setup and getting to the part of partitions. I didn't want to
write over anything so I deleted the formatted partition from before and
started over. Same result. I've done this 3 times and am afraid of
affecting my new HD. Any ideas?

Possibly special drivers forIde controllers are needed.
Press F6 when asked and insert floppy disc.
Other possibilities:
Faulty Ram Or CD Disc or CDROM.
