Prob after reading notes

When I try to close outlook (2002 SP3 on XP) after viewing a note I get
the following dialog box reporting an error:
Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not
valid.

If I click 'OK' I get a warning that my note will not be saved (it
was). If I try to close Outlook again, sometimes it closes and
sometimes is provides a repeat performance of the invalid parameter
values routine.

I am guessing a file with my notes information is corrupted but I don't
know what to do.

TIA,

Ralph Page

Known problem. IIRC, it has something to do with add-ins that use the NewInspector event. Notes wind up being a little wacky since they don't expose a CommandBars interface. I don't know of any solution short of figuring out which add-in is the culprit and removing it.

it's caused by an addin that reads the inspector - except notes don't have
what it's looking for so it kicks up the error. :) Either ignore it or
figure out which addin is causing it and decide which is more important -
the addin or the error.

It removes them from outlook and should eliminate the error. I know it's not
the exchange ones - those are standard with all installs.

Have you tried to run a detect and repair from the Help menu?

I tried it and found that it wanted to be installed from my Office CD
so I did.
It reported that it installed normally.
No indication that the application ran though and when I removed the
office CD, quit Outlook and re-started Outlook and tried the detect
and repair option, it immediately asked for the CD so it could install
it. This doesn't seem normal.

Thanks for the help, if you have any additional insight I'm all ears.

I followed the advice at the link and un-checked all the add-ins, does
that remove them?

I have a Plaxo, McAfee and some odd named add-in relating to exchange
extensions. In fact I removed the Plaxo add-in, it's gone entirely
now.
I still observe the same behavior.

Thanks for the help,

I apologize for the premature post, I forgot to check the registry.

I don't know what un-checking the boxes in Outlook did, but it didn't
remove the problem.

I found the offending registry entry (from Smart Who Is, if anyone
else has this issue) and removed it via the Smart Who Is program.
Now Outlook quits normally.

Thanks again for the help, sorry about the premature posting.
