.prn print file

I created a .prn print file but when I open it in Excel, Word, notebook,
etc., it is garbage. I appreciate any help.

That's because the .prn file is meant to be sent directly to a printer!

You have to use the Text Only Printer Driver (look under the manufacturer called Generic) to get text prn files. Else the file contains printing instructions for the printer. Text Only doesn't include printer instructions.

To print a prn file type in a command prompt

copy myprn.prn prn
