I built a webpage for our local Bluegrass Festival
(www.johnstonbluegrassfestival.com)
I want to add a link that requires a password, ie click on a link and
you need a password to view the page(s). I need to do this to share
festival management files (vendors, bands etc) with committee members.

How would I do this?

And is this the bast way to share files, or is there some
collaborative software (free) that we can use to manage our
information

Thanks
Jerry

We are getting the webspace free from a local festival contributor.
I don't know the O/S. All I know is that its a vanilla no frills
server (I think a windows box) It does NOT have FP extensions. I'd
have to upgrade to a paid server for that.
Sorry

Looks like a Windows server without extensions

There was an ASP method of doing that that looked the user/pass up in a text
file.

Try looking for "asp password" in Google to find samples.

Though depending on how secure you need it to be and what file formats you
use your results may vary.

Unfortunately, a disinterested host makes for few options for the site.
