Printscreen hotkey disabled

I recently tried shareware that, according to posts I have read, either
defined or redefined my Printscreen hotkey in the Windows registry. Since
that time, my Printscreen hotkey has not worked. I have tried reinstalling
Windows, and then using the Files and Settings transfer Wizard to get rid of
the problem, but apparently when my settings were restored, my Registry keys
were restored, including the one I was trying to get rid of. I have tried a
visual search of the registry to see if I could even identify where this
setting might reside, but to no avail. One post here that I found using the
"Printscreen" string as search parameter suggests doing a repair reinstall of
Windows XP. This seems a little extreme, but if I can't scare up a better
idea, I'll have to try it.
Thanks,
Marc

You can get an actual print-screen program. For instance:
