How do I cancel a print job once it has started. I accidently clicked the
print icon twice.

The most efficient method depends on your printer and paper source:

1. If you have a printer with an open paper tray (not a drawer or
cartridge), the fastest way to stop printing is to remove the paper. (Don't
try this on a drawer/cartridge-type machine, as you'll get horrendous paper
jams.)

2. Your printer may have a Cancel Print Job button. This can be fairly
efficient.

3. Turning the printer off is quick but can result in paper jams.

4. Taking the printer offline will eventually work, but it will continue
printing until it runs out of data, and that can be numerous pages if it has
a lot of memory.

5. You can cancel the print job from the Printers folder (double-click on
the printer icon in the Systray), but only if the job hasn't already
completely spooled to the printer.

6. If you're very quick, you can catch the job while it's spooling from Word
to the Printers folder, by double-clicking on the printer icon on Word's
status bar; this is rarely possible except for very long jobs.

Hi susieq-

You can't cancel it from within Word. Once you give the print command Word
hands the job over to the OS. What you can do from there depends on whether
you are printing locally or to a network printer.

If local, you may have a Printers icon on the right side of the Task Bar you
can click or go to Start>Settings>Printers & Faxes. Then double-click the
printer icon, select the duplicate job & delete it. Network may work the same
way depending on how it is set up. If that's not the case, your network admin
will have to fill you in.
