When printing large jobs from Microsoft Word, is there a print manager tool
that allows you to cancel a print job once it has been sent to the printer
(but before it has been fully processed). With Corel Word Perfect, an icon
always appeared at the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
Double-clicking on this would allow you to cancel the job. I've been
experimenting with this on MS Word and it doesn't seem to happen. Is this a
function of Word or of the type of printer I'm using? It is very frustrating
when you mistakenly send a really large job and can't get rid of it . . .

It's the printer. You need to go to Start-->Settings-->Printers and
double-click the printer, choose the document, then Document-->Cancel. Yes,
it sucks. The reason, I think, is that very often, the print job is already
"gone" from Windows and is only on the printer. You need to hit the power
button on your printer to really cancel it.

There instructions do not work for me. When I try to cancel a print job that
has
been interrupted, for example, because my printer ran out of paper, the
document
will not cancel. Sometimes if I restart my computer I can get the job to
dissappear
but other times the job will print when I restart the computer. Isn't there
another
way to cancel the print job. I have an HP photosmart printer and Office
Professional Ed 2003 on MS XP thanks Randy
