Printing XP Wireless Router

Hi, I'm not too up with neworking...but am not afraid to try.

I'm having an issue printing from a laptop (Windows XP Pro) connected
to a simple wireless home network through a Netgear wireless router. On
the network is a MAC desktop which has no problem printing and no
problem seeing the Windows laptop.
My printer (Xerox Phaser 6200) has a connection directly into the
router via ethernet. I do not want to locally install the printer onto
the desktop as i'd like to be able to print regargless of whether the
desktop is on or off. Since the MAC can print to the Xerox thru the
wireless network, i figure that the XP should be able to as well.
I've tried adding ports, loading drivers, etc... but to no avail on the
XP. Any advice? The less technical the better.
Thanks!

Have you tried Star/Printers and Faxes/ Add a new printer/select network
printer?
Does your printer have a static IP address?
