Printing - track changes

When printing a document with tracked changes, we want to print comments but
not formatting; we tell it not to print formatting, formatting doesn't show
on screen BUT it still prints the formatting balloons. However, sometimes it
doesn't print them, which is good, but very annoying because we don't know
what (if anything) we are doing differently when it DOES print them. Any
ideas?

We are using Word 2003.

Thanks,

On your Reviewing toolbar, you can choose to Show Comments, Insertions
& Deletions, Formatting, and some other stuff. Choose from that the
things you want to print.

In the Print dialog box (Ctrl-P, not the toolbar Print button!), near
the lower left there's a drop-down box called something like "What to
Print." In that box, select Text Showing Markup. That _should_ get
your choice of changes printing.

However, it seems that sometimes it remembers an earlier setting, so
you might want to close Word entirely (not just the one document
you're printing) and open the document again. Then it should work.
