Printing through TS

RV

Hi,

I have configured a server with Windows 2000 Advanced
Server with SP 4 and TS access (Remote Administration
Mode). I would like to know if its possible for the
rpinters to be automapped when connecting remotelty to
this server.

I have enabled LTP port mapping and printer mapping on
the server on TS Client Configuration.

But when i access the server from any of the clients like
Windows XP or 2000 it does display the automapped
printers.

Can someone help me out. Do i need to install any
specific pacthes for this?

Cheers

RV,

Local printers on the client should be redirected in the terminal session. There are a few things that could prevent this.
Depending on which connection software we are running on the client it may be able to prevent the redirecting of printers
from the client side. Also, when you say you enabled "LPT port mapping" and "Windows printer mapping" on the server,
did you check the boxes or uncheck them? I ask because some times people get it confussed but checking the boxes
actually disables the functions. What is the make and model of the printer? Are we using a driver that came with the OS or
one from the manufacturer of the printer?

Does the server record any Events in the System Event Log when the printer does not redirect?

Also, check out the following article.

Here at work we use a program called 'Screwdrivers' which
maps the first three printers on the client computer to
the server when a TS session is started. It works very
well. You just run the program on the client computer
once and it maps everytime.
